No More Sick Days..

So i'm setting in the exam room at the pediatricians office so i thought i'd update really fast. The last day has been crazy it started normally ari was so cute, yelling at the kittys that i got out the camera and took a little video it was hilarious! We headed to san diego children's hospital later for what i thought would be uneventful tests. Ari had a vcug and kidney ultrasound done the ultrasound went great she flirted with the lady and was just her cute self, the lady was so taken with her that she brought her a bear! After that we had the vcug she screamed and cried and chokede through it and finally fell asleep. I thought that was the worst until we got home and she starteded spiking a fever groaning and shaking Brett and i quickly took her to the doctor i was worried she was having a reaction to the dye they used. Well by the time we got there she had perked up and they took some urine and determined she had a uti.
We went home and the nightmare began.
I started cooking dinner and Brett rocked Ari while we waited for her perscription to be filled, after I finished Brett went to go get the medicene while I held Ari for a little bit, almost immediately she started shaking and moaning again, this time much louder and more violently. Thankfully Brett chose that moment to walk in and held her while I called our Dr again- while on the phone Ari started violently puking again and again, I took her temp and it was up to 103, 104... As her temp started to climb I got pretty upset, thankfully BRett remained very cool under pressure. The Dr and our friend the EMT told us to put her in a room temperature bath and give her a dose of Motrin (baby ibprophen)- usually babies this age cant have it but they made an exception to help her out (I found out later they dont give it because it brings a fever down and can mask symptoms- they were sure she had a kidney infection so no need to diagnose).

Her fever came down a little 104, so I walked to CVS to get some baby Motrin and Pedialyte to rehydrate her (did I mention she was puking, shaking, and choking the whole time she was in the bath?? yea.. scary..). The walk gave me a chance to calm down a little and when I got back we made her a little bed on the living room floor (to keep our body heat from increasing her temp) and bathed her with cool cloths. About 30 minutes after the Motrin her fever started coming down and she stopped shaking and moaning- PRAISE GOD! By this time we had our whole Growth Group (thanks Nikki!!) praying for her along with our families. She was finally able to rest around midnight, and we laid her in bed between us, I got up every couple hours to offer her pedialyte (she still loves her "nectar"), monitor her temp and give her Tylenol.

In the morning the Dr gave her 2 shots of antibiotic and thankfully no fever since... Praise God for a calm and cool husband, a wonderful praying family and Growth Group and a wonderful little baby that makes every day better..

Love you all

Brett, Michelle and Baby Ari
