Merry Christmas and Photos :)

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Heres the link to our Christmas photo album:
Christmas Photos 2009

We got the photos done at JC Pennys portrait studio.. And as you can see Ari was fine during the first photos (pink outfit) and the proceeded to MELT DOWN for the rest!! LOL.. Poor baby, it looks like we are torturing her and smiling while we do it. It definitely made for some interesting photos, and a good story. I imagine we will probably tell it for years to come.

I hope you all are having a fantastic time with family and friends :) Brett, Ari and I have finished the Kansas portion of our Christmas tour. We had a GREAT time! We got to see tons of family and even had a surprise Christmas with my Uncle Neal :) he was VERY generous to the whole family and Ari got some really cool toys and books. NEWFLASH- she loves Pooh!! LOL... Uncle Neal and his daughter Alex got Ari a stuffed Pooh and Piglet and she goes crazy every time she sees it!!??! I dont know know why, I really havent gotten her any character-esk toys, and definitely no clothes with pooh and stuff on them, but boy was I wrong! This baby loves her Pooh... She also got an Elmo book from them with a pop out puppet Elmo... loves that too.. LOL.. its just funny, kids like what they like!

We are currently in Bolivar visiting Bretts family, last night we got a chance to visit with his high school buddies, Wes, Caleb, Hans and their families. I LOVE their wives Katy, Nikki and Jerrica- they are GREAT, plus experienced Moms so I got some great pointers and added some books to our never-ending book list. It was nice just to hang out with some adults and talk, and Ari was a dream, she just set there and smiled, such a good baby!

On the medical front, Ive finished my round of Levaquin and am hoping that will finally take care of this kidney infection Ive been fighting. After 6 months, 5 ER visits and 4 days in the hospital I am so OVER the whole thing. I go back in to this clinic in Bolivar to get another sample to ensure its cleared up and I hope the results are good-pray for that! Ive basically exhausted almost every antibiotic group during this process and just want it to be over so I can go on with my life. One of my new year goals- NO hospitals in 2010!!! Unless Im visiting my friends and their cute new babies :)

Well thats about all for now! Look for our Birth Announcements and Christmas letters in the mail, they should be arriving any time. If you dont get one let us know and we will resend :)

Happy Holidays Ya'll!!! (Ive been in Kansas too long! LOL)
Michelle, Brett and Baby Ariella
and of course Grammy, Papa Bing and Uncle Ryan..

Oh theres no place like home for the holidays..

http://picasaweb.google.com/ms.micheller/BrettMichelleAndBabyAriellaSAdventures#

Well Ari and I made it successfully to Missouri Sunday, 2 1/2 hour flight (we arrived early!?!) which was fantastic, little Ariella slept the whole way in her sling only waking every now and then to say hello. It was funny to see peoples reaction to her in the sling, when we were getting on the plane the flight attendant checked our ticket and said "This says Lap Child.. where's the... oh!! I see.." and when I got off the plane and was walking to the baggage area a tall gentleman walked past and said.. "Oh well shes got a baby on her front" (imagine that in a southernish drawl....) quite funny.

Sunday night Sherri, Ari and I went to the Bolivar Baptist Church Christmas Music night, it was so nice to hear the music, choir, and then a nice candlelight service. They had a little baby during the nativity scene (Joseph sang to Baby Jesus), and for the rest of the night people thought Ari was Baby Jesus (Papa Bing calls her that as well). After the service we had fellowship (code word for food :) some yummy cookies) so Sherri got a chance to show that baby off, she was so proud of her first grandchild and was just beaming, it was fun just to stand back and watch her enjoy herself.

Monday we went and visited Gramma Betty and visited, it was fun to hear baby stories from her children :) Grandparents are such a rich hertiage. Monday evening I started feeling pretty sick and ended up in the ER, I think it was a reaction either to the medicene I was was taking or the infection was getting worse, either way NOT a fun night. Im on new medicene now and slowly feeling better, Ive been pretty weak and havent been able to do, or eat much yet, but are on the way to recovery. The bad news is the antibiotics arent compatible with babies so Ari's on the bottle for awhile :(.

Matt and Wendy (Bretts brother and sister)arrived today and she immediately smiled at Matt- I think she may be reminded of her Daddy. Speaking of her Daddy, Brett is still in California, we miss him pretty badly but hes getting some good work done and giving our kitties lots of loving (they've been deprived since Ari showed up).

Well thats the update for the moment!! We're working to get our birth annoucement/Christmas letter out so look for that! Send addresses...

Love you all
Michelle and baby Ari (Grammy Bayer, Papa Bing, Auntie Wendy and Uncle Matt)

We dont have much time alone here though, yesterday was Bretts birthday- the big 30!!! We celebrated with our small group from church and lots of yummy treats. I made "death by chocolate ala Sherrie bayer" for Brett he loved it!!

Papi Ronnie is here!

A post by Brett:
On Saturday night, Michelle's Dad, Ronnie Robinson flew into San Diego to come and visit! HURRAH! We are all so excited for him to be here, especially Ariella :) I told him to bring his arms since Ariella loves to be held. We drove around Coronado Island to see the aircraft carrier and the helicopters. Then we went to 22nd Street to see all of the Navy surface ships (cruisers, destroyers, and Marine carrying Amphibious Ships), but as a submariner I call them "targets" or "skimmers." For a late dinner, we all went to a busy Californian delacacy of In'N'Out, a local burger joint.

Ronnie is here for the "heavy lifting" of Ariella and loving on his granddaughter. Oh yeah and to visit us in California! On the agenda for this week is to visit the US Marine Corp Aviation Museum at Marine Corp Air Station Miramar. Ronnie loves jets and I have heard many stories of all the air shows Michelle went to as a kid. The museum has about 15 planes and helicopters displayed outside. Early tomorrow will start with a visit to a local mom'n'pop donut shop that Grandma Myers has discovered.

Well...that all folks! Thanks for reading!

From Michelle:
BRett did a great job of posting :) I might add Theresa aka Mimi sent a surprise gift for me and I LOVE IT!! some comfy jammies- shes REALLY REALLY knew what I was needing right about now! Plus a awesome Victoria Secret giftcard to treat myself later, which will be nice to get a little pick me up and since the one I got for my bridal shower from Wendy got stolen with my purse :( sad day......

Anyways we're doing good!
Love you all

Ariella's Birth Story

So I realized with all the excitement of the arrival of Ariella that we didnt get to actually TELL the story of the birth, so heres my (Michelle's) version, from what I actually recall. Brett will hopefully post his version as well.

Monday October 5th

So I posted that morning, and had felt a little achy and VERY much suffering from insomnia the night before. That day I had an appointment with the uriologist in Encinitas (about 20 mins from our house) to basically "get to know" him before I could start my testing after the baby (to fix my kidneys). Grandma Myers had a hair appointment at the little salon a block from our house at 2:30pm and I had the Dr appointment at 3 so I said I would go ahead and go by myself to the appointment- we were all lulled into a state of false confidence since we knew when the c-section would happen.

So I left and drove to the Dr's office, a little side note the Drs office was actually at the hospital in Encinitas that we WERE going to have the baby at, but decided against once we found out that we would never have a private room- we are VERY happy we chose to go with the private room option.

While setting in the Dr's office I started feeling a little crampy, and as all pregnant women do when they are close to their due date, I decided to look at my watch to see what time this crampiness was happening. I noted the time, and continued to wait, the crampiness continued and my stomach started feeling a little upset. I kept note of the time and realized after awhile that these "crampiness" feelings were happening about 4 minutes apart. SOOO I thought, hmmm maybe Im in labor? I stepped into the hall and called my OB office, I told the receptionst that I thought I was in labor and the pains were about 4 minutes apart. She said, well we usually like people to go to the hosptial when they are steady for an hour (which I had been waiting in the Dr office for an hour), I informed her that I was having a c-section LOL they quickly got her off the phone to talk to a Dr. She came back on and said, go ahead and get checked out at the hospital. So I went back inside and told the woman at the urologist office that I needed to go because I was having contractions. She said, "oh wait let me see if the Dr can see you first", and tried to call him over, "oh, no, I said, you dont understand Im in labor, I need to go" LOL..That was pretty funny. She gave me back my copay and I was on my way to La Jolla hospital.

I called Brett and told him what was happening, I thought surely, Im not REALLY in labor and didnt want him leaving work for a false alarm. He said he wanted to come be there, but I didnt know yet what was going to happen and told him to wait and see what I found out. I then called grandma and told her what was happening and that I needed to pack!!!!! I had packed everything for Brett for the hospital but had delayed on myself and had NOTHING packed!! lol.. not a good idea. Not to mention I had just found out we needed to do a c-section so what I needed for the hosptial had changed. Grandma was walking back from the hair salon so was almost running back, and Brett was preparing to leave work.

I arrived at La Jolla and they hooked me up to the monitor (weird: the nurse that checked me in was from Kansas and had went to the same little college as me?!!?? strange!) and found out that YES they were contractions and they were coming about 2-4 minutes apart and I was 2 cm dialated. The nurse called the Dr to decide what they wanted to do, I guess they could delay labor for awhile if they wanted too with some shot. I told her I wasnt ready!! LOL so many more things to do in the nursey, and had to stock the pantry, cook, etc etc. She asked if I seriously wanted to wait (yea right! ask any 39 week pregnant woman if they REALLY want to wait??!!) which I said no, if the baby wanted to come then it was time. So the nurse called the doctor and the doctor decided today was the day!!!! Things started happening REALLY fast by then, I called Brett told him what was happening (he was already on his way), called Grandma and started tell her things to pack, where to find them, etc etc. It was madness!!!

My Dr (Dr Zaid), could actually do the c-section if I had it at 6 but since I had eaten something earlier in the day they wanted to wait so I found out Dr Makini, another Dr in the office was going to do it instead. I was prepared for this, so just went with the flow- I was more in shock!! the baby is coming today!!! They checked me into a Labor and Delivery room and Brett and Grandma showed up, things were moving faster and faster!! They wanted to do the surgery at 9:30pm so we had a couple hours to wait- or so we thought. About an hour later Dr Makini came in and said that actually they were going to wait to take me because another woman was about to push. About 20 minutes later she came in and said they were going to take me RIGHT then because and it looked like it may be awhile with the other woman.

YIKES!!

Things moved faster and faster, they got a cute outfit for Brett

And and prepped me, and wheeled me to surgery!! I went in first alone, so they could get everything hooked up. The anasteiologist told me they were going to give me a spinal with no local, aka not numbed up but really it wasnt bad and soon they let Brett back in. He took a picture of the clock as he was waiting:

And by 8:44pm little Ariella had arrived!!! The surgery wasnt so bad, they jerked and pulled me a whole lot, she was REALLY stuck in there but she came out crying strong :) She scored an 8 on her Apgar then a 9 which is GREAT- 10 is the best you can get. Theres more of the hospital story (like how I DEMANDED to see her and ended up out of bed only 4 hours after surgery) but its getting late here so thats all for today :)

Love you all!!

Hope you enjoy!!

Bath time is lots of fun!!!

Today was little Ari's first bath!!! Visit our Picasa web album for some pictures :) she was SURE she didnt like it at first then quickly decided she enjoyed it!! Her favorite part was the hair washing in the end- she just LOVES it! She close her eyes and just basks in the warm water... Its so funny! You would swear shes a princess receiving a hair treatment, complete bliss!

I will note that the next diaper change after the bath she peed all over herself!! LOL I lifted her up to change her diaper and oops! there went a stream, arced high in the air (almost hit her face) and drenched herself.. Oh well! Guess it will be bath time again tomorrow!

We visited the Doctor today- she said she is back to birth weight!!YEAAAAA!!! 7lbs 9oz!! We dont have to go back until the 2 month checkup and shots. :( not excited. The pediatrician remarked on how cute she is- and since shes a professional I have to say I am one proud Mamma (and Papa of course).

She is now smiling some and making more facial guestures, shes awake longer and getting more beautiful by the day. I hear her laugh sometimes in her sound and its the most beautiful sound in the world, like little bells, I cannot wait until she laughs again!!

Please keep us in your prayers, we are running into some problems feeding and its very hard for all of us. Brett is doing good at work, but need some prayer there as well as some big decisions are being made..

Love you all!

These are importants links:

To my You tube account where we wll upload Ariella videos:

Once you get to my You Tube account, go look at the rest of my videos to see them all:)

The things that break my heart..

Weird what motherhood will do to you, these are now the things that break my heart:

1.Spit up: every time she does this I think shes going to choke to death

2. Clipping fingernails: we tried this once, it ended up in blood and tears, blood on her part and tears on mine- I have decided she will just have the worlds longest fingernails until I can find someone to do this for me so I can leave the room or possibly the city (they do this at the vet office, why not the pediatrician office?)

3. Drug addicts/prostitutes/etc: every time I see these people it makes me think.. you were SOMEONES BABY!!! its just too sad..

4. Scary movies: ok.. so it doesnt break my heart but now I have absolutely no desire to see a scary movie, wont even watch previews, theres too much to be afraid of in the world I dont need to make things up...

5. Pain baby cry: its true, the crys are different when shes in pain, I heard it when I cut her fingernail and its the worst sound in the world... worse even because I caused it...By the way, shes fine, barely nicked her finger..

6. Gas: I know bretts brothers are going to laugh at this heading, but when Ari has gas shes squirms and looks so uncomfortable and theres nothing I can do.. poor baby...

Its true, you dont ever feel pain or love like this until you have a baby, both for your baby and for your partner- my love for Brett has increased exponentially! I want more babies ASAP!! lol..Brett however is quick to remind me of the last 9 months, I forgot.. HE REMEMBERS!!! LOL...

Love you all!!
Michelle and baby Ari

so long babyhood....

Well maybe not "so long", but farwell to newborn newborn phase. Tonight Ariella lost her umbelical cord stump, I found it in her Swaddler when I went to change her diaper :( we are kinda sad to see it go... Shes growing up so fast!! But happy at the same time because this means babys first bath (trust us she needs it).

Last night we did an impromptu photo shoot with our little angel :) You knew it was coming, it was only a matter of time with 2 photographers in the household. I only edited a couple pictures, Im limited in what I can do with our free Picasa software and really they were quite striking in the raw- such a beautiful baby!! Im biased but.. well you will see!! I think the grandparents will enjoy this! Feel free to download, print, enlarge you name it. If you want a high res photo let me know and I can email it too you. We hope to use some of these photos for our birth annoucements which we hope to do soon..

ENJOY!!

New Movies!!

New movies on you tube! check them out!!! :)

We are enjoying a happy family Saturday, Ive finally let the cats back in the house (they are on probation) but watch them like a HAWK!!! I went to the OB yesterday because I was worried about my incision but everything looks ok- they even took off my steri strips. Now Im waiting to wean myself off my medicene so I can drive!! yea!!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGhHqbV6Y4o

Heres Sherrie Bayers King Ranch Chicken Recipe (much loved by us and the Bayer family) Im posting it by request :) ENJOY!!

This recipe is in the 1995 edition of Southern Living Annual Recipes. I have added my changes/modifications in parentheses. You’ll see that I tend to “tweak” recipes until I get them the way we like them.

King Ranch Chicken

4 skinned and boned chicken breast halves
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter (I use olive oil)
1 green pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
2 10 ounce cans Rotel (I use 1 can regular Rotel and 1 can mild Rotel)
1 can cream of mushroom soup, undiluted
1 can cream of chicken soup, undiluted
12 (6 inch) corn tortillas, cut into quarters ( I use small flour tortillas cut in bite size
squares because our neighbors the Pooles make it that way)
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese (I use more—sometimes I add Monterey Jack cheese, too)

• Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper and bake on a foil covered cookie sheet at 350 for 20 minutes or until done; cool. Coarsely chop chicken and set aside.
• Sauté onion and green pepper in butter or olive oil until tender crisp. Remove from heat and stir in chicken, Rotel, and soups.
• Place 1/3 tortilla squares in bottom of a lightly greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Top with 1/3 chicken mixture and sprinkle evenly with part of the cheese
• Repeat the layers twice, reserving remaining cheese
• Bake at 350 for 35 minutes or until bubbly. Sprinkle with reserved cheese and bake 5 more minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

Little Lightning Bug

Hello Everyone!!
Life is good here in California, Brett and I are enjoying very little sleep and LOTS of baby loving. As you can see from the picture, Ariella is our little lightning bug, shes attached to what is called a “billi blanket” . This billy blanket is basically a UV light that helps treat jaundice by removing Billiruben (not sure spelling) or neutralizing it. We’ve been back to the hospital every day since we were released because her billireuben levels kept going up meaning her jaundice was getting progressively worse.. not good..however it could be worse.
After the blood test yesterday the doctor had the billi blanket ordered and delieved to our house, QUITE the ordeal let me tell you- this HUGE moving truck thing pulls up and this HUGE guy gets out, all to deliver this tiny little bag LOL!!! We’ve been treating her all night and supplementing her feedings to flush out the bad stuff. We hope after the blood test this morning she will be in the clear and we can stop- who knew we would be thankful for a regular 3am feeding?? LOL..
Anyways- we will keep everyone updated and when I have more sleep I will tell everyone the whole hospital story..

Love everyone!!!
Brett, Michelle and Little Lightning bug Ariella!!
P.s. Also there are new pics on our PICASA website
P.P.S Look at the picture, we let Ariella use a pacifier for like 2 seconds- notice how shes holding it IN HER MOUTH??!!! LOL pretty funny, she literally held iit in her mouth when we tried to take it way (one smart baby!) but eventually she gave in when offered something tastier 

Ariella Arlene Bayer

http://picasaweb.google.com/ms.micheller/AriellaArleneBayer?feat=directlink
Ok Grandparents, loved ones, family, and friends here are some MUCH anticipated photos of our little lovey :)

Ariella Arlene Bayer (pronounced Are - E- Ella)

We are home from the hospital as a family and its FANTASTIC!! Lots of naps and cuddling and just loving going on over here. Its great to have three sets of arms to hold the little one and I would have to say she has hardly been set down yet.

We had to go to the Pediatrican this morning to get another jaundice blood test, poor baby, her levels are back up more but not to worry! The doctor thinks
that its actually on its way to resolving itself. We will go back to get more blood tests tomorror and will go from there. If her count is still up they will give here this little blanket that glows blue, she basically sleeps in it and looks like a cute little glow worm!!! :) We will update tomorrow...

As for me, Im still in some pain but it seems to get better every time Im around my wonderful husband and amazing daughter (why dont pharmacies just perscribe those instead?). Ive probably been moving a little much which has added to the pain but its just hard to accept help for things that i feel I can/should do myself. I will learn.. hopefully the easy way.....

enjoy the photos- we will probably do a photo shoot with her in the next few days or so and get some really artistic shots. Shes just BEAUTIFUL and changing rapidly every day, getting more hair, making little sing songy sighing sounds, getting more alert and making eye contact...Its just amazing...

Love you all!

Blog Update

Michelle was sitting in a doctor’s waiting room when she started having contractions. She called the OB and then went to the hospital. I left work, drove home to pick up Grandma Myers, and went to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Grandma Myers has been such a great help these past few weeks.

Ariella Arlene Bayer was born via C-section at 2044 on 10/5/2009. Her name means Lioness of God and is pronounced Ari-Ella, not Airy Ella. Her Stats: 7 lb 8 oz, 19.25 inches. Initially she had an elevated breathing rate, so she stayed in the nursery for a few hours.

As of Wednesday, Michelle and Ariella are still in the hospital, but I have come home to prepare the house and also to go to my job. I found out Ariella has jaundice, so the hospital has put her under the bright lights of UV therapy. Michelle tells me that Ariella hates the bright lights and especially the sun glasses. I think she is too cool for those sunglasses and needs to be at home w/ Michelle and I or at the beach catching rays…not in some blue box. Just my opinion though. Please pray that Ariella will be able to come home on Friday and that the jaundice will go away.

Michelle is still in a good bit of pain and will be recovering for 6 weeks. She won’t be able to drive or climb stairs. We have a set of stairs in the house, so she will probably just make one trip up/down a day.

Our small group has been awesome and very supportive. They will be bringing us meals at home for the next two weeks. Lots of group members have already come by the hospital. They are so awesome!

Fun Family Time and the COUNTDOWN begins!!

This weekend we had some fun family times!!

Christie my cousin (John and Sue's daughter, and bridesmaid), came to visit us from Pepperdine this weekend, we had TONS of fun shopping, eating, watching horrible movies (dont ask), eating, laundry LOTS of laundry and eating.. LOL.. College kids are hungry!!!! We loved cooking for her and made sure she was sent home with bags and bags of food, we call it "pantry shopping". We got to do some baby shopping and just enjoyed our time together. Sunday she headed out and we got to go to the late service at church which makes for a nice lazy Sunday morning and lets Brett sleep in a little (he works EVERY day but Sunday- so is pretty tired)

7 days until the big BIRTHDAY!!! We are excited on this end, Brett is so ready to hold her and declares he will watch Monday night football with her on her birthday LOL.. I know he really will... Im doing ok, had BAD insomnia last night and feel a little achy today but we still arent done getting ready so she just cant come yet!! lol... Do babies understand that?

Grandmas doing good, cleaning, cooking, taking nice walks in this beatiful weather (its REALLY cooled off) and loving California. We got some good news, Mom and her Finacee and my little sister Jen will be joining us for Thanksgiving :) this is WONDERFUL as they tell me I will still be on bedrest and wouldnt be able to cook a Thanksgiving meal. Im very happy for the help as Grandma has to head back mid-November.

Things are good hear!!! 7 days left!!

Love Michelle, Brett and Grandma Myers

P.S. We tried for October 13th, Ryans (Bretts brother) birthday but the hospital was BOOKED solid!! We settled for the 12th, Columbus Day which happens to be my Grandpa Robinsons birthday :) so at least we get 1 family member!!

To C or not to C

Well....
If you havent heard already baby Bayer will be arriving October 12th..

How can we be so sure you may ask??

Well...We are "to C" C-section that is..
We are scheduled for a C-Section at La Jolla Scripps Hospital. Our OB feels that with Baby Bayer measuring so big (and getting bigger and bigger and bigger..) plus the big stomach thing that it would be better for her to go that route, versus the other risks..

So October 12th at around 730 am, it is unless complications arise or she just decides to arrive early :) Which we dont think will happen, she likes it where she is too much, and who wouldnt? Its getting a little crowded now but pretty nice otherwise.

In other news, my purse was stolen, and the deal fell through with the vending business (not the best day).

My wonderfully awesome cousin Christie (uncle John and aunt Sues daughter) is visiting for the weekend and we are LOVING it!!! She arrived today bearing tidings of much dirty laundry :) and a hungry stomach which we are happy to fill!! We are happy we get to keep her the whole weekend and are looking forward to fun family time.

Bretts working this Saturday- please pray for him as he continues to work very hard long hours.

PRAISE PRAISE PRAISE!!!
Danny and Angie (Brett and now MY aunt and uncle) just had a son!!! He was "born of their hearts" on September 30th and is 5 months old. He is the cutest little boy!!! They have been waiting patiently for the perfect little one for their lives and got the answer to their prayers. We are so happy to see the family growing and cant wait to meet their little one.

Well thats all for now....

Love you all!
Michelle, Brett, Gma Myers and Cousin Christie!!

Let there be REST!!!

Well we had a pretty good day today!! Brett worked ALL weekend, but had Sunday off and we took advantage of it!! Our friend Dusty came and visited and Saturday Night we had King Ranch Chicken ala Sherrie Bayer (AWESOME recipie if you want it) and then played Settlers and went to church Sunday. It was just NICE to enjoy eachothers company and see Dusty and just rest a little.

We got our "Babys First Photo Album" in the mail and I printed the family pictures out for it... If you want to see the pictures we put in look at this link:
http://picasaweb.google.com/ms.micheller/FamilyBabyBook?feat=directlink

No one sent me any favorite picture of themselves so I ended up just using what I could find, if you have a better one you would rather I use email it too me ms.micheller@gmail.com just make sure its high resolution and can be edited to 4 by 6 size (I can make it black and white).

Brett passed his test FRIDAY!! YEA!!!! He did well but is quite sure this will be the hardest class yet, that PLUS the baby coming means alot of pressure for him, and is a huge prayer request..

The NURSERY :) is almost DONE!!! We hope to be officially finished sometime this week and will post pictures for your viewing pleasure. :)

AND FINALLY... after MUCH ado and begging... BELLY PICTURES!!!!!
enjoy......

Its Time for the FLU!!!

Well ladies and gents its time for flu season once again!! At the OB office this morning I got my flu shot and tried to get Grandma and Brett one as well, unfortunately they are all out already!!! YIKES!!!

So make sure you get yours :) before they run out!! We learned some things about the flu shot and new babies....

1. TRY to get the preservative FREE flu shot, OB offices have them, ask if the shot is preservative free (no mercury etc), if they dont know then its not.... Its just a little better for you and any person expecting a baby.

2. It takes 2 weeks for the shot to actually take affect!!! wow!! Just a heads up for those planning to visit baby Bayer, make sure you get yours 2 weeks before you come visit, or plan on being around her because it takes that long.. wow... Newborns and flu season, umm... probably not the best mix.. lol.. We will be stocking up on hand sanitizer..

3. No Swine Flu for us.. We dont plan on getting the first run swine flu vaccines, just because they are being pushed through the FDA so fast theres not enough testing for us yet (OB said wait) plus the last Swine Flu Vaccine "mess" just doesnt set well with us (and Guillain-Barre syndrome??!!??), I think we'll just see what happens....
http://articles.latimes.com/2009/apr/27/science/sci-swine-history27

Well thats about all- HUGE Brett test today, we are praying that he did well, my OB has been on vacation but theres been some talk of C-section due to her size and umbilical cord around her neck.. we will keep her updated as we know more. Monday we will be going to the perinatal ultrasound place for our final ultrasound and for a better idea of the future chances of birth options.

A friend (Dusty)from Memphis lives here in Cali and is coming to visit this weekend so that will be fun!! Brett is working every saturday now so just keep him in your prayers- the classes are getting more and more difficult, in his words"this is worse than prototype" aka the nuclear power school thats probably the hardest learning program in the Navy .. aka.. its TOUGH

36 weeks 6 days today... Baby Bayer comes soon!!

Love you all

Happy Baby Shower to meeeeeeee Happy Baby Shower to meeeeeeee!!

Ok so MAYBE theres no such song, but I feel like there should be.. especially after the AMAZING surprise baby shower I had this week!!!

Thursday night I went to our growth group (solo as Brett had to work and it was supposed to be Girls night and I THOUGHT everyone was going to go get manicures or pedicures) even though I was feeling a little under the weather and SURPRISE!!! all the girls were there (no boys, with one little cute exception- Brodie- the newborn son of Cody and Kate) with tons of food and presents!!! They even jumped up from behind the couch- it was AWESOME!! I love surprises!!

Nikki, the growth group leader, had let on that I really really should come, when I emailed and said I may not because I was feeling sick but man am I glad I did!!!! I am so blessed to have these girls- they barely even know me but went out of their way to make the food and decorate and get us gifts!!! WOW!! If thats not Christ like... well I dont know what is. They are so giving and kind. I was a little bummed about not having a baby shower before the baby- so this was kinda like that cup runneth over thing- more than I could ask.

I got some REALLY cute clothes (Nikki, Katie, Kate, Sarah, Brooke- ok so Im glad Im having a girl because everyone loves to buy for them! LOL), hand made burp cloths with matching swaddle blankets (made by one of the dads!! lol who I call Mr Mom- Brodies dad), a gorgeous hand made blanket (from Sarah- imagine a beautiful, younger, nicer Martha Stuart), DIAPERS yea!!!- thanks Alicia, cute little bow headbands- so no gender confusion..it was great!! We laughed and shared lots of stories- I loved hearing info from Moms, both first timers like me and those who already have a couple "under their belt" so to speak.

Sarah took Pics so I will post some after I get them :) really it was great- total estrogen fest so Brett wasnt too sad he wasnt there LOL.. actually not sad at all?? strange.. lol...

Dr visit went well, baby is fine and kicking and growing!! Shes probably around 6lbs 3oz now?? maybe more.. lol.. love that little chunker!! The white blood cell count is still up which they think is just the infection hiding but the Anemia is gone!! woo!! I still have to take the iron but that makes me feel MUCH better about my spleen and kidney function is good so hopefully no long term damage. My general care Dr will see me as soon as the babys born (hes ready to start fixing me LOL)- he said he will give me a week... lol...

Scotts (Bretts brother), is offically at sea, Ryan (bretts brother) and Dania (cousin) are safely in Peru somewhere, and PaPa is still in the hospital but doing better- they believe this problem will be remedied this time and he will get to come home soon.

My Mom and her finacee may be able to come visit for the birth!!! thats exciting, we are talking about it now but it would be AWESOME to have them here to welcome the baby here... (ooops almost typed her name!!!)

Brett is doing well, but running into some pretty big frustrations, please keep him and work situations in your prayers.....

God is so good!!!
Come visit soon!

Love
Michelle, Brett, Gma Myers (and soon to be......Baby BAYER)

A Bayer Deployment..

Today we said goodbye to Scott. He left for his deployment of unknown destinations (he's not sure where he will end up yet), and we will be praying hard. This is him literally leaving out of the front door (notice the M&M's :) ). We will miss him so much but made sure he left with plenty of cookies. Brett got to drive him to his work and drop off his car, its really hard for the big brother to say goodbye to a younger brother, we love him so much but trust God that he will return to us safe and sound.

Grandma and I are doing arts and crafts today, finishing up (more like STARTING) the nursery. Thanks to Sherrie, Bretts Mom for putting up the border, and Bing and Ryan Bretts Dad and Brother for putting together the bookcase... pictures to come once we get done... hopefully BEFORE the baby comes.

Papa, Bretts grandpa is in the hospital, with some medical complications, please pray for him and the Bayer/Theda family as they care for him- Bretts Mom and Grandmother will be spending considerable time with him in the hospital , please pray for their comfort and his as the hospital stays are never fun for anyone.

Well today wasnt super good news, but at least theres some pics :)

love you all
come visit soon
