Blog Update

Michelle was sitting in a doctor’s waiting room when she started having contractions. She called the OB and then went to the hospital. I left work, drove home to pick up Grandma Myers, and went to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. Grandma Myers has been such a great help these past few weeks.

Ariella Arlene Bayer was born via C-section at 2044 on 10/5/2009. Her name means Lioness of God and is pronounced Ari-Ella, not Airy Ella. Her Stats: 7 lb 8 oz, 19.25 inches. Initially she had an elevated breathing rate, so she stayed in the nursery for a few hours.

As of Wednesday, Michelle and Ariella are still in the hospital, but I have come home to prepare the house and also to go to my job. I found out Ariella has jaundice, so the hospital has put her under the bright lights of UV therapy. Michelle tells me that Ariella hates the bright lights and especially the sun glasses. I think she is too cool for those sunglasses and needs to be at home w/ Michelle and I or at the beach catching rays…not in some blue box. Just my opinion though. Please pray that Ariella will be able to come home on Friday and that the jaundice will go away.

Michelle is still in a good bit of pain and will be recovering for 6 weeks. She won’t be able to drive or climb stairs. We have a set of stairs in the house, so she will probably just make one trip up/down a day.

Our small group has been awesome and very supportive. They will be bringing us meals at home for the next two weeks. Lots of group members have already come by the hospital. They are so awesome!
